North Carolina’s only environmental education center dedicated to the interpretation of the ecology and science of estuaries, the estuarium features more than 200 exhibits about the Pamlico-Tar River System, some of which include living aquariums. The estuarium also includes a native plant garden and offers seasonal pontoon boat tours. It is located in downtown Washington, near the shores of Blounts Bay.
